SKRAECKOEDLAN
"Learn to pronounce it Tour 2026"
Skraeckoedlan is a band that writes sci-fi books, creates video games, arcade machines and all encompassing concepts and universes. They also write music. Heavy fuzz-rock to be precise. With melodic swedish lyrics that sing about metaphorical sci-fi stories and paint dreamlike creatures on cosmic canvases.
Two things are ever present in all the adventures the band embarks on. The first thing is the total nerd factor of it all. They are delightfully and manically detail oriented in everything they do. Questions like “What is the LORE of this riff?” are neither uncommon nor unreasonable for them. This is at its utmost, rooted in the band's love and veneration for the creative process.
The second thing follows logically from the first thing, as things usually do. Though not always. To keep the nerd factor as close to galactic maximum as possible Skraeckoedlan has developed a ruthless DIY-attitude. Since their start in 2009 the cooks in the kitchen have become fewer and fewer and the band prefers to cook its own soup with as little interference as possible. Case and point, their latest album, The Vermillion Sky, was recorded, produced and mixed by the band. An ambitious undertaking that started with the humble google search “How do you mic a snare drum?”.
The albums which have led to today's creative autonomy are three.
2011 Äppelträdet: The band's debut album is released. Produced by Oscar Cedermalm from the band Truckfighters
2015 Sagor: The bands second release saw the band producing all of the music together with friends while the vocals were partially produced by Daniel Bergstrand (Meshuggah, In Flames).
2019 Earth: It’s award season! Their third album was nominated for P3 Guld (Swedish public broadcast award) as well as album of the year from Manifestgalan, a Swedish independent music award. The album was produced together with Erik Berglund (Brothers of metal, Gaupa, Good Harvest) and reached number one in vinyl sales in Sweden.
In between albums the band has released a number of singles including a cover of the Swedish band Kent's song Pärlor which reached number one on Spotify's Viral 50 Sweden.
Records are one thing, but Skraeckoedlan are and have always been a band to see live. Since their inception the band have used their DIY sensibilities to book and arrange their own shows together with others in the Swedish underground music scene. Over the years some 500 shows have been played throughout Sweden and Europe. From sweaty basement floors to large club and festival stages such as Peace and Love, Sweden Rock, Stoned from the Underground, Borgholm Brinner and Desertfest. They’ve shared the stage with iconic bands such as Dozer, Red Fang, Fu Manchu, Orange Goblin, Kylesa, Opeth, In Flames, Witchcraft, Graveyard, Truckfighters and Danko Jones to name a few.
To continuously grow in their creative process something Skraeckoedlan try to do with every album release, Their latest album was accompanied by a scifi book, comic book, computer game and an arcade machine so the heights the band will need to climb to on their next release are pretty up there. One thing is for sure however, the view from the top will be spectacular.
