& THE FEATHERBRAIN TOUR
With Hanne Hukkelberg you never know what you get, just that it’s experimental, cinematic and melodic. In 2010 she toured with Wilco, and this was also the year she moved to New York to write new material. The result is Featherbrain, Hukkelberg’s fourth album, released world wide February 2012. Featherbrain is probably her most convincing album to date. ‘I can’t wait getting out, it feels like this is THE album..’ says Hanne, just having finished the recordings for her follow up to BLOOD FROM A STONE from 2009, which received rave reviews in the international press. Her new album, again, was recorded in Hanne’s studio in Oslo and follows the essential characteristics of her past projects: innovation. Hanne gathers inspirations for her compositions from her own musical past, ranging from various rock and metal bands she joined back in the days, over her 80s dominated collection of indie/rock albums, to her father’s curiosity for ‘found’ sounds. Actually Hannes biggest talent lies in the creation of an intensive dynamic, as she adds experimental and deep arrangements to her catchy, multilayered songs. Classical instruments meet field recordings and Hannes voice ranges from flute-like purity to a hard-rocking wail. We are not surprised that she already won the national Grammy award ‘Spellemannsprisen’ in Norway.
On stage, Hanne Hukkelberg is usually supported by her 2 piece live band, creating a very special atmosphere and intimate vibe, or as the guardian once called it: "a slice of Nordic magic". We are looking forward to see her brand new show in 2012, based on the new album material and including special visual backdrops.
